5C Analysis

 

A 5C analysis is another good way for a business to analyse its internal and external situation. This method provides a simple methodology which can prove to be highly effective. It is normally used as part of a company's marketing process.

C(ompany)

This is the company itself. SWOT can be used to understand the company's characteristics in terms of brand and competitive advantage.

C(ompetitors)

You can then look at the competition, i.e., those businesses that your customers might approach to buy the same goods/services.

You can look at the competition's strategies, their strengths, and weaknesses, and consider whether new competitors are likely to emerge.

C(ustomers)

These are the people who buy from a company. By having a good understanding of who your customers are, you can target your goods and services more effectively.

C(ollaborators)

These are the people and businesses who work with the company.

Suppliers, investors, service providers.

C(limate)

In the climate category there are the other factors that are external to the business, e.g., legislation, economic trends, demographics, social trends, technological innovations.
