Identifying target markets
A target market is the group of people that the business intends to target for a marketing campaign. It can be a huge group with fairly similar characteristics e.g. young women in the UK or a relatively small group with much more similar characteristics e.g. young women who like football in the Llanelli area.
Identifying the target market is crucial so that a business can target its marketing towards it. This ensures that the company does not waste time and money advertising and promoting to people who have no interest in its product or service.
