Government agencies and departments
Government agencies and departments (local, national, international) – the UK Government operates at a UK-wide level, the governments of the devolved nations and locally. The UK Government deals with taxes etc. In Wales,
- Agriculture, forestry, and fishing
- Education
- Environment
- Health and social care
- Housing
- Local government
- Highways and transport
are devolved, therefore the Welsh Government has governmental oversight in these areas. A number of responsibilities have been devolved to County Councils, for example planning permission is something that businesses would potentially apply for to make changes to their buildings.
Communities
Communities – (local, national, international) people in the scope of business.
Pressure groups
Pressure groups - these are groups that put pressure on businesses or governments to change something, for example the Just Stop Oil group is a pressure group that is currently in the news. Other examples of pressure groups are Black Lives Matter and Cymdeithas yr Iaith who campaign for the rights of people to use the Welsh language.
Interest groups
These are bodies that have some sort of interest in the sector. The following are some examples of interest groups:
- Trade Unions – organisations that look after workers’ interests.
- Chambers of Commerce
- Regulators – for example, the education regulator, Estyn.
- Professional bodies e.g. the Education Workforce Council representing teachers.
